On a balmy July evening, a crowd dispersed throughout the open spaces of Latham Park gathered for the final Lincoln Area Music Orchestra Concert in the Park.

The orchestra played a collection of pieces representing America such as "A Grand Old Flag," "Stars and Stripes Forever," "America the Beautiful," " God Bless America," and "God Bless the USA."

When songs representing each branch of the armed forces were played, those who had served in various branches were asked to stand and be recognized.

The quiet moments provided a nice background to the roar of the racing engines a couple miles away at the fairgrounds.
