[July 05, 2017]    July 4 (The Sports Xchange) - The Atlanta Braves activated standout Freddie Freeman from the disabled list on Tuesday and are moving him to third base.

 

Freeman broke his left wrist May 17 and the Braves traded for first baseman Matt Adams during his absence.

Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona missed Tuesday night's game against the San Diego Padres.

Francona was at the Cleveland Clinic on Tuesday for more tests because of an accelerated heart issue that has caused him to be taken the facility in the middle of games twice in the last three weeks.

The Toronto Blue Jays activated catcher Miguel Montero prior to Tuesday afternoon's game against the host New York Yankees.

Backup catcher Luke Maile was placed on the 10-day disabled list with right knee inflammation to make room for Montero, who was acquired Monday after being designated for assignment by the Chicago Cubs.

Chicago Cubs outfielder Jason Heyward was activated from the disabled list prior to Tuesday's afternoon game against the Tampa Bay Rays at Wrigley Field.

Heyward has been sidelined since June 18 with a hand injury sustained while sliding for a foul ball in Pittsburgh. The 27-year-old started in right field and went 1-for-4.

New York Mets left fielder T.J. Rivera left Tuesday's game against the Washington Nationals in the seventh inning after he limped to first base while running out a ground ball.

Rivera was 2-for-4 prior to the injury. Matt Reynolds took over in left field.
