State Capitol locked down after
hazardous material scare

SPRINGFIELD
- The Illinois State Capitol was put into lockdown just after 1:30
p.m. on Thursday. There was a report of an unknown substance thrown
around on the second floor.
Hazmat crews were called in. The material was tested and determined
to be non-hazardous.
A woman was taken into custody.
The Capitol was no longer in lockdown as of about 4:15 p.m.
following a search of the building and the test results of the
substance.
The legislators resumed meeting to try to resolve the budget.
