[July 14, 2017]  CHESTNUT - Dwain Cecil Marten, 93, passed away at 2:53 p.m. on July 4, 2017 at Vonderlieth Living Center in Mount Pulaski.

Visitation: 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.  Friday July 7, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church in Chestnut

Service: 11 a.m. Friday at the church

Funeral home: Fricke-Calvert-Schrader, Mount Pulaski

Obituary

Dwain Cecil Marten, 93, passed away at 2:53 p.m. on July 4, 2017 at Vonderlieth Living Center in Mount Pulaski.

Dwain was born on December 17, 1923 in Mount Pulaski, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Marten. He married Mildred Seefeldt on December 27, 1949, she preceded him in death on July 29, 1979. He married Leatha Faye Paul in 1980, she preceded him in death on December 6, 2012.

Dwain is survived by his son: Randy and his wife Bobbi Marten of Dallas, TX; stepchildren: Larry Tallent of McLean, and Ann Winchell of Bushnell; one grandchild; seven step-grandchildren.

Dwain was a WWII Marine veteran serving in the South Pacific. He was a lifelong farmer and electrician. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Chestnut, American Legion, Chestnut Fire Department, Logan County Sheriffs Auxiliary, and he was an avid model train enthusiast.

Services for Dwain will be 11:00 a.m. Friday July 7, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church in Chestnut, with Rev. David Dunlop officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service (10:00-11:00 a.m.) Burial at Laenna Cemetery will follow the service, where full military rites will be accorded.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Dwain’s name to the Chestnut EMS.

Services are entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski.
