City of Lincoln recognizes Greg and Peggy Morrow residence as the July Home of the Month

[July 19, 2017]   LINCOLN - On Monday evening, the city of Lincoln awarded the July Home of the Month prize to Greg and Peggy Morrow, who live on Fourth Street in Lincoln.

Mayor Seth Goodman and Aldermen Michelle Bauer, Kathy Horn, Ron Keller, and Tracy Welch gathered at the home and spent time visiting with the Morrows.

The Morrows were nominated for the award by Ward 2 Alderwoman Kathy Horn. Horn said that she enjoyed the home and had enjoyed watching the Morrows work to make it better. She noted that some of the most recent additions to the home included the two car garage. She also noted that the home is very well kept and always looks nice.

Greg Morrow shared that the family is living in a home built by his father. He said that his dad worked several years on the house, building it as he was able to afford materials. He laughed, recalling that his dad began the house in the early 1950’s and took about five years to finish it. He said across the street there was a small grocery store. One day while his father was on the roof, the bread delivery arrived at the grocery and the driver commented that he just didn’t think that house would ever get finished. But it did.

Greg grew up in the home, and is now with wife Peggy raising two children there, Luke age 15 and Rachel age 12. The Morrows said that making the home their own is an ongoing family project. They have added the front porch and a laundry room and two-car garage.

They have a very nice fenced in back yard, and Peggy noted that daughter Rachel is quite proficient with a posthole digger.

Around the outside of the home, the landscaping is subtle but lovely with a carefully clipped lawn, hosta and hydrangea, along with small shrubs lining the footing of the house, and a lovely sitting area with potted plants and lawn furniture at the back door by the garage.

The porch, which on this day was all decked out for the Fourth of July, also features a comfortable porch swing for sitting in the evening and watching the traffic go by.

The Morrows were delighted to be awarded the July Home of the Month and Peggy noted that she might have to throw a little party to show the traveling sign off to family and friends.

In addition to having the sign through the balance of this month posted in their front year, the Morrows received $50 in Chamber Bucks that can be used in any participating business in Logan County.
