At the end of the evening, Guidance Counselor Melanie
Hinson announced at the very end of the night that a grand total of
$548,000 in scholarship money had been awarded the students.
Skye Kretzinger is pictured with Mr. Ralph Allen on
Honors Night at MPHS. Kretzinger was awarded the Outstanding Agri-Science
Award by Allen among other accolades. Kretzinger also received one
of the FFA Alumni Scholarships presented by Allen.
Eli Olson is pictured with Kenneth Buckles on Honors
Night. Buckles presented Olson with the American Legion Post #447
Ryman-Fuiten Memorial Scholarship. Buckles candidly read some of
Olson’s words he had written in an essay and revealed that this
talented young man, who is bound for Northeastern University in
Boston, has aspirations that involve NASA. The average ACT score for
students attending Northeastern University is between 31-33.
Alexandra Beckers is pictured surrounded by Bill and
Barbara Maske of Mount Pulaski. The Maske’s presented Beckers with
the Joellen Maske Education Scholarship. Joellen Maske was a
long-time Language Arts teacher at Mount Pulaski Grade School.
Joellen Maske's love for reading and writing influenced generations
of students and even her own family members. Sadly, she passed away
in 2015, but her influence lives on through the generosity of her
family.
Beckers also received the other prestigious Army
Reserve National Scholarship /Athlete Award presented by Sgt. Hans
Schnautz.
TJ Benhart is shown here with Mr. Wyatt Waterkotte on
Honors Night. Waterkotte presented Benhart with the Mount Pulaski
FCCLA Service Scholarship. Benhart also took home the Irma Dana
Maxheimer Scholarship, the Lester L. Werntz Scholarship and the
Comcast Scholarship.
Lucas Aylesworth was named Senior of the Year
sponsored by Illinois National Bank at the 2017 Mount Pulaski High
School Honors Night. Aylesworth received many awards and
scholarships on the evening.
Here he is pictured with Jeff Davis and Mrs. Phyllis
Edwards after he received the Sydney Edwards Davis Memorial
Scholarship. Mrs. Edwards was a long-time teacher in the Mount
Pulaski School District and her daughter, Sydney, fought a hard
battle with cancer before passing away in 2014.
Aylesworth was also the recipient of the Iva Mae
Blaum Trust Scholarship presented by Mrs. Gail Nunnery of the State
Bank of Lincoln along with an FFA Alumni Scholarship presented by
Ralph Allen and a National FFA/RAM Truck Scholarship presented by
Scott Soebbing of Lincoln.
Aylesworth also took home one of the prestigious Army
Reserve National Scholarship/Athlete Awards.

Mount Pulaski High School. Their hard work, dedication and
generosity made the evening. As one parent was overheard saying, “It
takes a village.”
