[June 08, 2017]    (Reuters) - A man fatally shot three people before killing himself inside a local supermarket in northeast Pennsylvania early on Thursday, state police said.

State troopers responded to shots fired shortly before 1 a.m. at a Weis Markets in Eaton Township, about 25 miles (40 km) northwest of Scranton, after receiving a 911 call stating that someone was inside the store shooting at people, according to a statement from the Pennsylvania State Police.

Officers found two men and two women dead inside the store. One of the men had opened fire on the other three people before he killed himself. There was one witness at the scene who was not injured, police spokesman Ryan Tarkowski said.

"Investigators are still on the scene and we believe the incident is contained and the public is not in any danger at this time," Tarkowski said.

Police said the identities of the suspect and victims would not be released until next of kin were notified.
