The deal reportedly includes $42 million in guaranteed money.
The Chargers announced the agreement after spending the past
four months at odds with the pass rusher. The club had put the
franchise tag on Ingram in February and had until July 15 to
reach an agreement on a multiyear deal.
The 28-year-old Ingram has recorded 18.5 sacks over the past two
seasons. He posted eight last season when the franchise played
its final season in San Diego after having a career-best 10.5 in
2015.
Ingram spent most of his first five seasons as an outside
linebacker but will be primarily a defensive end this season.
New defensive coordinator Gus Bradley is changing the team's
base alignment from a 3-4 to a 4-3 scheme.
Ingram has 224 tackles and 24.5 sacks in 61 career
regular-season games since the being the 18th overall selection
of the 2012 NFL draft. He suffered injury setbacks early in his
career, tearing an ACL prior to the 2013 campaign and suffering
a hip injury early in the 2014 season.
Ingram is expected to join the club for minicamp, which begins
Tuesday at Chargers Park in San Diego. He previously threatened
to skip minicamp and training camp -- the latter will be held in
Orange County -- if he didn't secure a long-term deal.
