THIS WEEK: This will be the 29th NASCAR Cup race held on Sonoma's road course. It will be the first of two road course races on the schedule, with the other one in August in Watkins Glen, N.Y. ... Road course specialist Billy Johnson will fill in for Darrell Wallace Jr., in the No. 43 Richard Petty Motorsports Ford at Sonoma. ... Tony Stewart is the defending winner of this race. It was also the 49th and final win of Stewart's career; he retired after last season. ... Kyle Larson won this past Sunday's race at Michigan. It's his second straight win at the track, and his third on 2-mile tracks, having also won at Michigan's sister track at Fontana, Calif. Also, Chase Elliott earned his third-consecutive NASCAR Cup runner-up finish at Michigan. ... With his win at Michigan, Larson regained the points lead in the NASCAR Cup standings (640 points). Martin Truex Jr. dropped to second (635 points), followed by Kyle Busch (510), Kevin Harvick (508), Chase Elliott (478), Brad Keselowski (476), Jamie McMurray (450), Jimmie Johnson (449), Denny Hamlin (430) and Joey Logano (398).

NASCAR XFINITY SERIES: AMERICAN ETHANOL E15 250, 250 laps, 218.8 miles around a .875-mile paved track), Iowa Speedway; Newton, Iowa.

TV: Saturday, 8:30 p.m. ET -- FS1 (Radio: Motor Racing Network/SiriusXM Channel 90).

THIS WEEK: This will be the 15th Xfinity Series race at Iowa. ... Sam Hornish Jr. won this race last year, while Erik Jones won the second annual race at Iowa last July. ... Speaking of Hornish, he's re-signed to run at least three Xfinity races with Richard Petty Motorsports, and will be at Iowa for his first appearance. ... Denny Hamlin won last Saturday's race at Michigan. ... Elliott Sadler (460 points) regained the No. 1 spot in Xfinity driver rankings. Justin Allgaier dropped back to second (439 points), followed by William Byron (388), Daniel Hemric (339) and Brennan Poole (326).

THIS WEEK: After a weekend off, the IndyCar Series resumes for its second straight year at the 13-turn Road America road course. ... The most recent race winner was Will Power at Texas, joining Graham Rahal (won both races at Belle Isle the previous weekend) as the only drivers to win two races thus far this season. ... Winners of the first nine races have been Sebastien Bourdais (St. Petersburg), James Hinchcliffe (Long Beach), Josef Newgarden (Alabama) Simon Pagenaud (Phoenix), Will Power (IndyCar Grand Prix), Takuma Sato (Indy 500) and Graham Rahal (both Belle Isle races) and Power (Texas). ... Dragway were Clay Millican (Top Fuel), Ron Capps (Funny Car) and Alex Laughlin. It was Millican's first career NHRA win after 254 starts. Capps, the 2016 season Funny Car champ, earned his fifth race of the season. And Laughlin earned his second career Pro Stock win. ... Also of note in Pro Stock, Sunday marked the first time since 2014 that either Greg Anderson or teammate Jason Line failed to reach the final round of a Pro Stock race. ...
