[June 23, 2017]  ATLANTA - Robert O. Polley II, 65, of Atlanta, passed away at 10:45 a.m. today, Monday, June 12, 2017, at St. Clara's Manor in Lincoln.

Visitation:  4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2017 at the Atlanta Christian Church

Service: Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the church

Obituary

Robert O. Polley II, 65, of Atlanta passed away on Monday, June 12, 2017 at 10:45 a.m. at St. Clara's Manor in Lincoln.

Funeral Services will be held for Mr. Polley on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Atlanta Christian Church. Mr. Doug Maris will officiate. Burial will be in the Atlanta Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2017 at the Atlanta Christian Church. Masonic Rites will be held following the visitation.

Robert O. Polley II was born on July 13, 1951, in Urbana, the son of Robert O. and Betty Jane Leathers Polley. He was united in marriage with Lisa Swearingen on February 24, 1979, at the Atlanta Christian Church. She survives.

Also surviving are his children: Joshua (Beth Ann) Polley of Atlanta and Melissa Polley of Bloomington; his parents of Atlanta; his siblings: Rick (Janet ) Polley of Springfield and Becky (Jim) Pinney of Atlanta; two grandchildren: Stella and Reed Polley; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one granddaughter: Halle Joy Polley; father-in-law: Hal Swearingen; and one brother-in-law: Randy Van Hoorn.

Funeral Director

Bob graduated from Hartsburg-Emden High School and Illinois Central College. He retired from the Illinois Department of Corrections - Lincoln Correctional Center.

Bob was a member of the Atlanta Christian Church where he served as a Deacon and Elder and Atlanta Masonic Lodge # 165 (past Master), AFSCME Lincoln C.C. Local 501, and AFSCME Sub Chapter 80 Retirees. He had served on Atlanta City Council - Ward 3 Alderman, and as past Cub Scout and Boy Scout Master. He loved camping, working with steam engines with Kevin Sizemore and Rod Morgan, and Dutch Oven cooking.

Bob's family extends special thanks to the staff at St. Clara's Manor for the outstanding care and compassion shown to him and his family.

Memorials may be made to the Atlanta Rescue Squad or St. Clara's Manor.

Final arrangements are entrusted with Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home of Atlanta.
