[March 01, 2017]  LINCOLN -  Doris Jean Jones, 66, of Lincoln passed away February 27, 2017, at home surrounded by her loving family.

Visitation: 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home

Service: Saturday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home

Obituary

Doris Jean Jones, 66, of Lincoln passed away February 27, 2017, at home surrounded by her loving family.

Cremation rites have been accorded by Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home. A memorial gathering will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home. Memorial services will follow at 1:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date.

Doris was born November 5, 1950, in Clinton, the daughter of Charles and Dixie (Smith) Swingle. She married Leslie Vernon "Vern" Jones on November 6, 1966, in Lincoln. He preceded her in death on December 1, 2014. She retired from Lincoln Terrace after 20 years of service. Doris was a member of the Eagles Lodge and supported the Heart Association and the Arthritis Foundation. She enjoyed Bingo, collected Indians and bells, and enjoyed watching Walker Texas Ranger, General Hospital, and Harry Potter. Doris had a huge heart for family, even adopting several of her children's friends as her own. She never wanted anyone to be alone and opened her home to everyone. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her children Angie (Tim) Gallagher, Jeff (Linda) Jones, Missy Simpson, Jason Jones (Jamie Eckrote), Joshua (Amanda) Jones, and Jessica Jones; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Her dog Mickey and cat Bozley also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Memorial donations may be made to Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
