[March 03, 2017]  The new Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital Wellness Trail opened to the community in fall 2016 and offers an .88-mile loop as an extension of the ALMH healing gardens.

The trail was gifted to the community by
the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital Foundation in direct response to the ongoing need to incorporate more physical activity into the lifestyle of the community members.

It provides a venue for reflection and connection
with nature and a place for employees to recharge. The trail includes three boardwalk bridges and a pergola, a pond and fountain and a vantage point, named the “Healthy Outlook.”

Improvements will continue through 2017 to add to the beauty of this community gem.

The Wellness Trail begins on the north side of the ALMH building and can be picked up from the east parking lot next to Springfield Clinic.  If the lot would happen to be full, you can park in a different lot and get more than the .88-mile trail walk.

Pergola and benches along the east loop provides sedate respite.  In the summer a fountain spray adds to the beauty.

Several bridges are featured.  They cross runoff water swales that feed the naturalized wetland.

Both planted and preserved wetlands along the trail offer intrigue and wildlife resources

A line of dried Hydrangea blooms add texture on the back side of the building.

A northward hillside woodland view caps off this spectacular dining patio just outside the Wood's Cafe.

Approaching ALMH from the south side, the east parking lot boarders the trail.
