[March 03, 2017]    March 2 (The Sports Xchange) - Former NBA center Amar'e Stoudemire apologized for his comments in which he said he would avoid a teammate if that player were gay.

 

"I want to apologize for my offensive comments against the LGBT community," Stoudemire said in a statement. "These remarks were taken from a larger interview where a reporter was asking me hypothetical questions, and all my answers had a comedic undertone."

When asked in an interview with Israeli website Walla Sport, the 34-year-old Stoudemire said he would "shower across the street, make sure my change of clothes are around the corner."

The Cleveland Cavaliers signed veteran center Andrew Bogut to a contract.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed by the team for Bogut, who was waived by Philadelphia on Monday after the 76ers acquired the 7-foot center from the Dallas Mavericks on Feb. 23 as part of a deal for center Nerlens Noel.

The Golden State Warriors signed veteran forward Matt Barnes to a contract.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed by the team, which signed veteran guard Jose Calderon to a contract on Wednesday and promptly waived him two hours later.

Barnes posted on social media Wednesday that he would be rejoining Golden State, the team with which he played in 2006-07 and 2007-09.

The 36-year-old recorded 7.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 54 games this season with the Sacramento Kings.
