[March 04, 2017]    March 3 (The Sports Xchange) - Dallas Mavericks star forward Dirk Nowitzki intends to return for his 20th NBA season and play at age 39.

The 7-foot, 245-pound Nowitzki revealed the news to ESPN's Marc Stein on the TrueHoop Conversations podcast when asked if he still planned to return for the 2017-18 season.

"I think so ... unless something drastic changes here in the next few weeks or the last few weeks of the season, which I don't anticipate," said Nowitzki, who last summer signed a two-year contract. "I want to complete that deal."

The 2007 MVP and 2011 NBA Finals MVP from Germany is earning $25 million this season and is under contract next season on a $25 million team option.

Charlotte Hornets forward/center Frank Kaminsky suffered an AC joint sprain in his left shoulder, the team announced.

The injury occurred with 7:38 remaining in the fourth quarter of Charlotte's 120-103 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Thursday.

Kaminsky, the Hornets' first-round pick in 2015 out of Wisconsin, is averaging 11.5 points and 4.7 rebounds in 25.8 minutes per contest.

The Atlanta Hawks are expected to sign veteran point guard Jose Calderon to fill their open roster spot, according to reports.

The impending signing could take place as early as Saturday, league sources told Marc Stein of ESPN.

Calderon, 35, secured a buyout earlier this week from the Los Angeles Lakers and signed with the Golden State Warriors but was waived two hours later.

The Spaniard averaged 3.3 points, 2.1 assists and 12.2 minutes in 24 games, including 11 starts, for the Lakers this season. )
