[March 06, 2017]  March 5 (The Sports Xchange) - Highlights of Sunday's National Hockey League games:

Pengiuns 4, Sabres 3

Conor Sheary scored with 2:56 left in regulation as the Pittsburgh Penguins erased a three-goal deficit Sunday for a 4-3 win over the Buffalo Sabres at PPG Paints Arena.

Justin Schultz set up Sheary's goal on a back-door play and finished with a goal and two assists. Evgeni Malkin added a goal and an assist for Pittsburgh.

Buffalo took a 3-0 lead in the first period but lost for the sixth time in seven games (1-3-3) as its playoff hopes continue to dwindle.

Goaltender Matt Murray started for the 17th time in the Penguins' past 21 games but was replaced by Marc-Andre Fleury after giving up three goals on 21 shots in the first period and his team trailing 3-0. Fleury (16-8-5) stopped all 28 shots he faced.

Anders Nilsson (9-9-4) stopped 42 of 45 Penguins shots.

Jake Guentzel tied it for Pittsburgh 3-3 at 16:14 of the third when he tipped the puck past Nilsson.

Hurricanes 2, Coyotes 1

Derek Ryan knocked in a rebound off a fortunate bounce with 3:57 left in regulation and backup goalie Eddie Lack made 24 saves as Carolina snapped a four-game losing streak.

Peter Holland scored the lone goal for Arizona, which got 33 saves from Mike Smith but wasted three power-play opportunities in the third period and lost for the fifth time in its last seven games.

Ryan scored the winner when Jeff Skinner's initial shot deflected off Jakob Chychrun, off the far post and then back into the crease with Smith sprawled on the ice out of position.

The Coyotes took the lead when Lack couldn't squeeze a rebound of Luke Schenn's slap shot between his pads after Arizona's Anthony Duclair deflected it. Holland was waiting near the crease to sweep the loose puck into the open net behind Lack for his third goal of the season and his second goal in his last four games at 3:23 of the second period.

Carolina tied the score at 4:46 of the second period when right winger Teuvo Teravainen deflected Jaccob Slavin's slap shot past Smith for his 12th goal of the season, which is one off his career high set last season with Chicago.

Blue Jackets 3, Devils 0

The Blue Jackets persevered behind a 20-save shutout by goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky and two points apiece from Oliver Bjorkstrand and Sam Gagner.

Columbus is now 4-1-1 in its last six games, while the Devils suffered their seventh consecutive defeat.

Boone Jenner scored the only goal Columbus needed with 13th goal at 2:45 of the second period.

Jeremy Smith stopped 22 shots for Colorado, which was shut out for the 11th time this season and has just two goals in the past four games. The Avalanche have lost four straight and seven of their past eight.

Canucks 2, Ducks 1

Vancouver goalie Richard Bachman stopped 43 shots to win his season debut.

Bo Horvat and Markus Granlund scored for the Canucks, who earned their second victory in as many nights after losing six of their previous seven games.
