Men and Women swim teams place 6th in Nation

[March 07, 2017]  Men’s and Women’s Lynx Swim Teams Place 6th in the Nation - The Lincoln College swimming and diving team wrapped up there season this past week at the NJCAA National Swimming and Diving Championships at Erie Community College in Buffalo NY.

Both teams finished in 6th place with the women scoring 368.5 points and the men scoring 352 points. The Lynx swimmers walked away from the national championships with 19 All All-Americans and breaking 9 school records:

Women’s School Records:

  • Miranda Kindhart – 50 Breaststroke, 100 Individual Medley
  • Haley McDoland – 50 Backstroke
  • UB Misech – 50 Fly
  • Madi Ewald – 100 Free

Men’s School Records:

  • Oakley Johns – 50 Breaststroke
  • Logan McDanel – 50 Backstroke
  • Paul Elaisa – 100 Individual Medley, 50 Fly

The following placed top 8 at the national meet:

  • UB Misech – 50 Fly (6th Place)
  • Paul Elaisa – 50 Fly (5th Place), 100 IM (3rd Place),

Men’s Basketball Suffer Tough Loss in Final Home Game

On Saturday afternoon the Men's basketball team hosted John Wood. Going into half time John Wood was leading 39-35. Lincoln struggled only shooting 37% from the field. Isaiah Nelson lead the team with 21 points shooting 5 of 6 from 3 point line. Trayvon Tyler had 17 points followed by Richard Simpkins with 13 points. The finally was 83-73 with John Wood winning. Ended the regular season 17-13. They will face #3 seeded Rend Lake in the 1st round of regional tournament play. That game will take place Thursday March 8th at 8 PM.

Women’s Basketball Picks up a Win in Their Final Home Game

On Saturday afternoon the Lincoln College Women's Basketball team hosted John Wood CC. Lincoln got off to a rough start falling behind 20-11 after the first quarter. The Lady Lynx turned things around in the second quarter and went into half time only down 1 point. The two teams battled back and forth throughout the second half and at the end of regulation the teams were tied 57-57. In overtime, Lincoln grabbed the advantage and held on for a 70-65 victory. LC shot 29 of 67 from the field with Erynn Young leading all scorers with 27 points. Jantia Clark added 18 points. Lincoln finishes the regular season with a record of 14-16. The team will begin Region 24 post-season playoffs on Friday March 10th at Parkland College. They will face the Parkland College Cobras at 4:00 PM.
