[March 08, 2017]    March 7 (The Sports Xchange) - The Los Angeles Lakers officially named Rob Pelinka as their new general manager on Tuesday.

 

Pelinka, 47, joins the Lakers after being an agent who represented a number of players, including retired Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant.

Pelinka will be the day-to-day executive running the organization, engineering trades and coordinating scouting and the draft, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical, and must divest himself as a player agent to take the job.

San Antonio Spurs star Kawhi Leonard was the recipient of a random drug test from the NBA after arguably his biggest game of the season in Monday night's 112-110 win over the Houston Rockets.

Leonard matched Houston's James Harden with a game-high 39 points and hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with 25.4 seconds remaining before blocking Harden's layup attempt on the other end with 18.9 ticks to go.

The NBA drug tests players randomly four times during the regular season and twice in the offseason.

The Cleveland Cavaliers assigned guard Kay Felder to the Canton Charge of the NBA Development League.

Felder, 21, is averaging four points in 37 games this season with the Cavaliers. In seven prior games with the Charge, Felder averaged 30.6 points, four rebounds and six assists. ))
