Girls Class 8-2A Volleyball: Local volleyball teams bow out of Class 8-2A regionals

[March 07, 2017]    The 2017 volleyball season ended abruptly for two local junior high teams. Mason City’s Illini Central ended their season in the opening round of the Class 8-2A Regional last Saturday. The Lady Cougars fell in three sets to Peoria St. Vincent de Paul by close scores of 26-28, 28-26 and finally 18-25.

 

Mount Pulaski’s season came to an end Tuesday night at the hands of the no. 1 seeded Springfield Christ the King. Christ the King defeated the Honeybears 25-19 and 25-10. Christ the King will play Springfield rival no. 3 seeded St. Agnes for the Class 8-2A Regional Championship Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. St. Agnes battled with Springfield Blessed Sacrament in the semifinals and came out on top in three intense sets. Those scores were 29-27, 25-15 and 31-29.

The winner of the Mount Pulaski regional will play on Monday night at 6:30 p.m. at Central A&M Middle School in Assumption.
