[March 07, 2017]  LINCOLN - A bridge rehabilitation project is set to begin on County Highway 2 (Nicholson Road) over Sugar Creek approximately 5 miles north of Lincoln, between 2225th and 2250th Streets.

The project is scheduled to begin on March 13th and is expected to last until September. During construction the road will be closed to traffic.

Four of the bridge spans will be replaced, and the bridge deck will be widened to 30 feet. New guardrail will also be installed.

The project was awarded to Freesen Inc., located in Springfield, Illinois. The low bid on the project was $1,101,426. Funding will come from Logan County’s allotment of federal transportation bridge funds along with local property tax funds.

The bridge was originally constructed in 1976, replacing the steel truss bridges that spanned Sugar Creek.

Cooperation and patience is always appreciated during the construction season as we continue to improve the safety of our roads and bridges. Status of our local construction projects can be found on the New & Closures page of the County Highway Department website. https://logan countyil.gov/highway
