[March 20, 2017]  LINCOLN - Jumping into anything half-way through is scary… how many would want to jump into a play that is half-way through rehearsals… as the lead? While most people would say, “Absolutely not!” Alex Mulcahey was different. He took the shirt by the coattails and is now playing the lead role of Joseph in the upcoming production of, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” at Lincoln Christian University (LCU).

Mulcahey is a freshman from Normal, who is majoring in Youth Ministry at LCU. Coming into a production in which the cast has been rehearsing for many weeks is a stressful process for anyone, yet the LCU cast seems to be embracing the turn of events.

Co-cast member, Jared Eakle, said, “Everyone is doing such a great job, and our two narrators have amazing voices! Alex Mulcahey, our new Joesph, is also doing an amazing job. He stepped up and took a new role!” Eakle is also a freshman at LCU who is cast in the role of Pharaoh/Elvis.

The excitement seems to be contagious. When asked what he is looking forward to about the upcoming performance, Mulcahey said, “I’m absolutely thrilled that I have this opportunity to be a part of this production with many great people, and amazing songs. I can’t wait to see everyone come to watch us perform this fantastic story, and I hope they all have as much fun watching as I will have performing.”

Director Tim Searby added, “This cast of ‘Joseph’ really brings this beautiful story of grace to life. You won't want to miss the exciting score, beautiful voices and boundless energy.”

Based on the story in Genesis involving Joseph and his “coat of many colors,” this family-friendly musical is presented entirely in song with catchy tunes and gripping themes.
