[May 01, 2017]  FORSYTH- Robert “Bob” Van Hook, 70, of Forsyth passed away on Friday, April 21, 2017 in his home.

Visitation: 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, April 28 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader, Mount Pulaski

Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 29, at the funeral home

Obituary

Robert “Bob” Van Hook, 70, of Forsyth passed away on Friday, April 21, 2017 in his home.

Bob was born on February 11, 1947 in Lincoln, the son of Harry W. and Barbara (Barnes) Van Hook. They preceded him in death.

He graduated from Mount Pulaski High School in 1965, and attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.

He was employed at Bridgestone Firestone for 32 years; supervising in the tire room. He also built eight homes and enjoyed construction work. He was a volunteer fireman for Warrensburg Fire Dept for several years. He also enjoyed traveling, going on cruises and spending time with his family and friends.

He married Linda Cardoni in 1970 in Mount Pulaski. She survives in Forsyth.

Bob is also survived by his two children; Lisa (Kevin Cooper) Van Hook of Decatur, and Mike (Juli) Van Hook of St. Louis, MO; three grand children, Nicole Cooper of Chicago, Zachary Van Hook, and Caroline Van Hook of St. Louis, MO; also surviving are his two sisters, Mary Ann Van Hook of Chicago, and Jo Ann (Richard) Milligan of Riverside, CA, as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was a loving husband, dad and grandpa who loved spending time with his family that brought him so much joy. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mount Pulaski.

Services for Bob will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mt. Pulaski, with Rev. Barbara Stroud-Borth officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, April 28, 2017 also at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services at Mount Pulaski Cemetery, Mount Pulaski. Memorial donations may be made in Bob’s name to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mount Pulaski, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or Safe Haven Hospice, Lincoln.
