[May 04, 2017]  May 3 (The Sports Xchange) - The Cleveland Indians placed ace Corey Kluber on the 10-day disabled list Wednesday after the right-hander left Tuesday night's game because of lower-back discomfort.

Kluber was removed from his start against the Detroit Tigers after three innings, surrendering five runs, one walk and seven hits.

New York Mets ace Noah Syndergaard plans to get a second opinion on his torn right lat muscle and the right-handed could reportedly miss three months.

Syndergaard is scheduled to visit surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles on Thursday, the New York Post reported. Initial estimates are that he could be sidelined three months, according to the newspaper.

The Miami Marlins placed Edinson Volquez on the 10-day disabled list with a blister on his right thumb and recalled fellow right-hander Nick Wittgren from Triple-A New Orleans.

Volquez struggled with his control and allowed a career-high eight walks in 4 1/3 innings of Miami's 3-1 loss to Tampa Bay on Tuesday.

Former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow says he is "getting better every week" in his transition to a minor league baseball player for the Mets' Class A affiliate.

The 29-year-old Tebow continues to have ups and downs, hitting .231 with two home runs and nine RBIs through 22 games for the Class A Columbia Firefiles. He had his best game recently, going 3-for-4 with his first-ever triple.

"I went this route for a reason," Tebow told The State after scoring the game-winning run in the 2-1 victory over Delmarva in Columbia, S.C., on Tuesday night. "I'm doing something I love. And I'm not going to look back with regret. When we are doing that, we are never looking at the present and missing the right now. And you won't be as good you can in the future."

A woman attending Tuesday night's baseball game inside Busch Stadium in St. Louis was grazed by a stray bullet.

According to St. Louis police, the 34-year-old fan was inside the ballpark during the game against the Milwaukee Brewers when she felt pain in her arm. A bullet was later found near her seat.
