Logan County well represented at LWML conference

[May 04, 2017]  LINCOLN - The 72nd Annual Convention of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML) was held Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Altamont, IL. The convention theme was “Grow and Build Together in Love.”

Approximately 254 delegates, members, Pastors and guests participated. The opening devotion and Bible study was lead by Rev. Mark Peters, of Lincoln. Hosts for the convention were women from the Altamont Zone which included the following locations: Altamont, St. Peter, Salem, Shobonier and Vandalia.

The main speaker for the convention was Rev. Mark A. Wood of St. Louis. The topic was “Reaching Out”. He works with evangelism and revitalization in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.

LWML CID President, Sheila Lutz, chaired the business session. The Mite Box offering goal for 2017-2018 was set at $90,000. Mite Box funds are used to support mission grants selected annually from submissions to LWML. The top four mission grants were announced at the end of the convention.

Next year's convention will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bloomington, IL on April 27th and April 28th.
