[May 09, 2017]   LINCOLN - Logan County Democrats will meet on Saturday, May 13th at 10 a.m. at Lincoln Public Library.

Guest speaker will be President David
Gerlach of Lincoln College. Gerlach will speak on the effect of the Illinois state budget crisis on students who use MAP grants to further their education.

Dr. David Gerlach is the 22nd president of Lincoln College, a liberal arts college with campuses in Lincoln and Normal, IL. Lincoln College, founded in 1865 and the only college named for Abraham Lincoln while he was still living, has begun transforming back to its roots as Lincoln University by adding additional bachelor degrees at the Lincoln campus.

Dr. Gerlach has more than 30 years of education experience, including spending the last 11 years as vice president for advancement at the State University of New York at Canton, which is located about 30 miles from the Canadian border in rural upstate New York. His selection was a result of his strong background and track record in student services, enrollment management, and fundraising. At Canton he led the school to its highest student enrollment numbers in four of the last six years, multiplied the campus foundation’s financial assets, earned provisional membership in NCAA Division III athletics, doubled the number of student athletes, and was the lead developer in building a $27 million residence hall.

Gerlach has a doctorate in philosophy from Syracuse University in Higher Education, a Master degree in Education from St. Lawrence University, a bachelor degree in Business Administration from Roberts Wesleyan College, and an Associate of Applied Science in Business Administration from SUNY Canton. He and his wife, Lisa, have two grown children, one grandson, and are enjoying central Illinois.

All Logan County Democrats are welcome to attend.
