[May 10, 2017]  May 9 (The Sports Xchange) - The Buffalo Bills named Carolina Panthers assistant general manager Brandon Beane their new general manager, the team announced Tuesday.

Beane spent the past 19 years with the Panthers. The past two seasons, he was the Panthers' assistant general manager, and he spent seven years as the team's director of football operations.

Aaron Hernandez, the former New England Patriots tight end who committed suicide in a Massachusetts prison on April 19 while serving a life sentence for the killing of Odin Lloyd, had his murder conviction overturned Tuesday.

Bristol County Superior Court Judge E. Susan Garsh said she "has no choice" but to throw out Hernandez's murder conviction and dismiss the charges against him in accordance with Massachusetts state law.

Pro Football Hall of Famer Nick Buoniconti publicly revealed he suffers from memory loss among other ailments stemming from his 14-year pro football career, Sports Illustrated reported.

Buoniconti, the defensive leader of the Miami Dolphins' undefeated championship team of 1972, stopped short of saying he suffers from the brain disease known as chronic traumatic encephalopathy. But the 76-year-old estimates he took approximately 520,000 blows to the head during his playing career when the then-Boston Patriots and Dolphins.

Peyton Manning is getting his own statue to go along with a retired number in Indianapolis.

A statue of the legendary Colts quarterback and recently retired two-time Super Bowl champion will be unveiled outside Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday, October 7, the team announced.

The Seattle Seahawks released cornerback Perrish Cox less than four months after signing the veteran. The 30-year-old Cox was one of eight players released by the Seahawks.

The Seahawks also released tight end Chris Briggs, center Ross Burbank, defensive tackle Rodney Coe, receiver Jamel Johnson, kicker John Lunsford and running backs George Farmer and Terrence Magee.

The Arizona Cardinals signed cornerback Jumal Rolle to a one-year contract, the team announced.

Rolle, 26, has 17 tackles, three interceptions, four passes defensed and four special teams tackles over 19 games with the Houston Texans and Baltimore Ravens.
