[May 16, 2017]    The Central Illinois Riot 12U softball team was perfect on Saturday in a 14-0 win over Forsyth.

As the story goes, 27 batters up and 27 batters down. No walks and no errors. In fact, no one even reaches first base.

Perfect games are very rare. In all of Major League Baseball there have only been 23 perfect games.

Rachel Dawson of Stanford pitched a perfect game on Saturday for the Riot and she can add nine strikeouts to her otherwise “goose-egg” stats for the game.

The team also consists of several players from Lincoln and Mount Pulaski. Lincoln girls on the Riot are Cara Farnam, Emmorie Brown, Izzy Brooks, Lauryn Crawford and Adi Rumler. Mount Pulaski girls on the team are Scout Tschantz, McKenna Wilham and Jayda Allspach.

Congratulations to all of the girls participating in this very unique accomplishment.
