[May 16, 2017]  May 15 (The Sports Xchange) - Rookie Patrick Mahomes II, the Kansas City Chiefs' top pick in last month's NFL Draft, was uninjured after being robbed in Texas.

Mahomes, the former Texas Tech quarterback selected 10th overall, was in his hometown of Tyler, Texas, when he was robbed on Friday night, according to the Smith County Sheriff's office.

Mahomes and three others told deputies they had been robbed by a man pretending to have a gun.

"The suspect demanded property from the four victims and after the robbery was complete he got in his vehicle and left the location. No one was injured," Sgt. Darrell Coslin told ESPN.

- - - New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, selected last week as the cover star of "Madden NFL 18" dubbed the G.O.A.T. edition, is uncomfortable being called the greatest of all time.

Brady, in an interview with ESPN's Ian O'Connor, disagreed that he has surpassed his boyhood hero, San Francisco 49ers legend Joe Montana, as the greatest quarterback.

Montana won four Super Bowl rings and Brady collected his fifth in February.

"I'm really a product of what I've been around, who I was coached by, what I played against, in the era I played in," Brady said. "I really believe if a lot of people were in my shoes they could accomplish the same kinds of things."

- - - Seattle Seahawks running back Eddie Lacy weighed in at 253 pounds to earn a $55,000 bonus for being under his first target by two pounds.

Lacy had an incentive to come in under 255 pounds in his first official weigh-in after struggling to maintain a proper weight with the Green Bay Packers. He signed a one-year deal in March and is set to make $5.5 million, with $3 million fully guaranteed.

Lacy's contract with the Seahawks contains seven potential weight bonuses worth a total of $385,000, according to ESPN.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll is keeping his options open as he looks for a backup quarterback behind starter Russell Wilson.

When asked on 710 ESPN Seattle if the team is looking at free agent Colin Kaepernick or Robert Griffin III, Carroll wasn't shy about revealing his hand.

"We're looking at everybody. We really are," Carroll said.

Seattle features undrafted players Trevone Boykin, Jake Heaps and Skyler Howard as backups to Wilson.

Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon is among the 40 players who will attend the NFLPA's Rookie Premiere event this week.

The NFL Players Association announced the 23rd annual event will take place Thursday through Saturday in Los Angeles to help rookies "learn the business of football." The event also is designed to help rookies secure endorsement deals.

Mixon punched a female student in the face and fractured her jaw during his freshman year at Oklahoma in 2014. He recently settled his civil suit with the woman.

The list of rookie participants includes Chicago Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky, Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, Jacksonville Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette and Cleveland Browns quarterback DeShone Kizer.

Chicago Bears coach John Fox said number two overall pick Mitch Trubisky had a "great camp" during the just-completed three-day rookie practices.

Trubisky will now focus on other offseason goals.

"You've got to get him up to speed in your offense," Fox told the Chicago Sun-Times of Trubisky's offseason goals. "So I think a guy, regardless of position, has to get comfortable and know what to do -- and how to do it -- and then just really cut loose and play.

The Los Angeles Chargers released guard Orlando Franklin and signed safety Tre Boston to a one-year deal, the team announced.

Franklin lasted just two seasons with the Chargers after signing a five-year, $36.5 million contract in 2015.
