2017 Memorial Day observances in
Atlanta

ATLANTA
- Memorial Day will be observed in Atlanta on Monday, May 29th as
the community pauses to remember and reflect upon the service and
sacrifices made by veterans.
The day will begin with the Atlanta United Methodist Church Men’s
breakfast at the Atlanta firehouse from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.
The Veteran’s Memorial Ceremony and Atlanta Band Concert will begin
at 10 a.m. on the lawn of the Atlanta Public Library. This year's
speaker will be William Kindred, a 1967 Atlanta High School graduate
who served in the Air Force for several decades.
At 11 a.m. the Flying Feet Cloggers from Audra’s Dance Studio in
Lincoln will perform.
All children are invited to take a fire truck ride to the Atlanta
Cemetery to honor veterans by placing flowers on their graves. The
fire truck will depart from the Atlanta Public Library at 11:45 a.m.

From 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. the VFW Auxiliary #1756 will serve
lunch at the firehouse. Rob Polen will also be on hand at lunch time, offering
grilled pork chop and ribeye sandwiches.
In case of inclement weather, all activities will be held inside the Atlanta
Firehouse, except the children’s trip to the Atlanta Cemetery, which will be
canceled.
