[May 26, 2017]  LINCOLN -  On Saturday a group of approximately 15 walkers will be making a stop over in Lincoln at Latham Park. They are expected to arrive in town around 1 p.m.

The group is marching to Springfield from Chicago, as a means of making a statement about the state budget crisis. They have tagged their march as the "200-Mile March" and are asking the state to pass a "people and planet first budget" for the state.

A press release from the group states: "The march will arrive in Springfield on Tuesday, May 30, and hundreds of people from around the state will rally and march the last half mile at 10:30 a.m. at the Old Capitol Building. Marchers will then will flood the Capitol, claiming it for the people of Illinois and holding a “people’s assembly” to pass a budget that requires corporations and the rich to pay their fair share so that Illinois can invest in people and communities around the state. The March to Springfield launched from Chicago on Monday, May 15."
