On Friday morning, the dean of the University of Illinois’ College of ACES, Dr. Kim Kidwell and other guests visited Washington Monroe School to observe the Ag in Classroom program. Logan County Extension instructor Amy Hyde was holding a session for the first grade class of Mrs. Neece.

Hyde holds Ag in the Classroom sessions at multiple grade levels and schools throughout the county. Each class is geared to the specific age group and serves to show how every aspect of our daily lives is dependent upon some form of agriculture.

The tour that began at the Logan County Extension Office, made its last stop in Logan County at the Lincoln College G. Dennis Campbell Creekside Environmental Education Center. That segment was led by Dr. Pamela Moriearty, a Master Naturalist and volunteer. The Master Naturalist program is part of the U of I Extension. Moriearty received her Master Naturalist training in 2014 and has worked on many projects including local waterway studies, monitoring the general health of local creeks.
