The Jack D. Nutt Arena was buzzing with excitement on Saturday afternoon as the no. nine ranked NJCAA DII Lincoln College Lynx took on no. 14 ranked Kirkwood.

Lincoln College Men's Basketball defeated Kirkwood Saturday afternoon to improve to 4-0 on the season.

Kirkwood took the first lead of the game over Lincoln, but once the Lynx tied the score 9-9, the home team never looked back. Although there was an occasional moment where Lincoln had to look over their shoulder as Kirkwood came storming back.

Lincoln led 45-28 at the half over Kirkwood. A second half surge by Kirkwood had them outscoring Lincoln 49-41, but the Lynx held their composure and picked up the 86-77 victory.

Lincoln Head Coach Pat Lepper was pleased his team picked up the win and gave much credit to the toughness of Kirkwood. “Kirkwood is a great team and they are really well-coached. They are very disciplined and they played hard. I knew they were going to come back in the second half. It was just a matter of when they were going to come back in the second half. I think they really kind of cut the game closer later in the second half, which was a good experience for our guys. Because we haven’t had a game where we’ve had adversity. But I was really pleased with how our guys responded. You know we didn’t call any timeouts to save them or make any adjustments. We just subbed more guys in and guys stepped up. That’s why I think we had six guys in double figures. As a coach our game plan was to try and win the game by committee, everyone step up, do their part, which they did. So I am really proud of this win.”
