[November 20, 2017]  ELKHART - Michael Dawson, 60, of Elkhart passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Celebration of Life:  2:00-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Obituary

Michael Dawson, 60, of Elkhart passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Michael was born on September 3, 1957 in Carlinville, the son of Conrad Joseph and Betty (Baggs) Dawson. He married his best friend, Michelle Danley on September 13, 2003 in Elkhart. She survives.

Michael is also survived by his children: Jason Dawson, Melissa (Josh) Brown, Tosha (Travis) Brannum, and Jessica (Shun) Hicks; his brothers: Phillip Dawson, Steve (Linda) Dawson, Jim (Pam) Dawson, and John (Janelle) Dawson; additionally he is survived by seven grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, as well as many great-nieces and nephews.

 

Michael was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Anne; and his four legged pal, Jack Dawson.

Michael enjoyed traveling with Michelle. He was the owner and operator of The Taste of Illi restaurant in Illiopolis. Above all else, he loved spending time with his family.

A celebration of Michael’s life will be held from 2:00-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Michael’s name to The Elkhart Fire Dept.
