On a clear day with a little altitude you can see a long way from Lincoln. East coasters’ and people from other rolling or mountainous parts of the country refer to Illinoisans as Flatlanders. Here’s what it looks like on a beautiful fall day from near to the center of town at 140 feet. You can see 25, 35, even 50 miles or more in any direction.
