[October 04, 2017]  CLINTON - Duane F. Aughenbaugh, 81, of Clinton, Illinois passed away 7:15 a.m. October 1, 2017 at St. Clara’s Manor, Lincoln.

Visitation:  4 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton

Service: 10 a.m. Thursday, October 5, 2017 at the funeral home.

Obituary

Duane F. Aughenbaugh, 81, of Clinton, Illinois passed away 7:15 a.m. October 1, 2017 at St. Clara’s Manor, Lincoln.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, October 5, 2017 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with Rev. Laurie Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Kenney. Visitation will be 4 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at the funeral home with Masonic Rites at 7 p.m.

Memorials may be directed to the Kenney Heritage Association or the DeWitt Co. 4-H Foundation.

Duane was born December 24, 1935 in Kenney, the son of Hershel and Irene (Shyer) Aughenbaugh. He married Betty L. Smith February 25, 1955 in Decatur.

Survivors include his wife, Betty L. Aughenbaugh, Clinton, children: Steve (Sarah) Aughenbaugh, Lincoln; and Tom (Karen) Aughenbaugh, Clinton, six grandchildren: Laura (Kyle) Frick, Evan Aughenbaugh, Gregory Aughenbaugh, Ethan Aughenbaugh and Cami and Cari Aughenbaugh.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dale Aughenbaugh; and one sister, Marjorie Schoby.

Duane farmed in Macon and DeWitt Counties and was a Crop Adjusting Supervisor for North Central Crop Ins. Co.

He was a member of several Masonic bodies including a Lifetime Member of DeWitt Lodge #84 AF & AM; Clinton Commandery Chapter #66, Clinton Council #74, Scottish Rite Valley of Bloomington, Goodbreak Chapter #59 Presiding Officer, Past Officer and Past Master of Henderson Lodge #820 and Secretary for over 50 years, a Knight York Cross of Honor, Past Patron Order of the Easter Star, the oldest living Past Commander of Clinton Commandery #66, and Past District Deputy Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Illinois.
 

Funeral Director

Duane was also a member of the Farmers’ Grain Board of Directors of Chestnut and Kenney, the Prairie Production Credit Assoc. Board of Directors and the DeWitt Co. Genealogical Society.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at St. Clara’s Manor and Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital for their excellent care during Duane’s illness.
