Community invited to enjoy Lights and Sirens Parade and Fire Truck show on Sunday afternoon in Lincoln

[October 05, 2017]   LINCOLN - In observation of Fire Prevention and Safety Month, the Lincoln Rural Fire Protection District will host the fourth annual Fire Truck Parade on Sunday, October 8th.

Fire trucks and firefighters from all around the county, current and retired, are invited to participate in the annual event. The trucks and apparatus will line up in the parking lot of the old Big R location in Heritage Plaza on the west side of Lincoln Parkway beginning at 1 p.m.

At 2 p.m. the Lights and Sirens Parade will kick off proceeding on Woodlawn Road to Keokuk, then Keokuk to North Kickapoo and Kickapoo south to Broadway Street, and the Logan County Courthouse Square.

At the courthouse square, trucks will line Broadway Street for the annual Fire Truck Show. The community is invited to view the parade at any point along the route and to also come downtown afterward for an opportunity to visit with local firefighters and get a close-up look at the various trucks and equipment both old and new.
