[October 13, 2017]    CB Kyle Fuller continues to impress with man-to-man coverage after he recovered from the knee injury that sidelined him throughout last season.

G Kyle Long (ankle) did not practice Thursday (Oct. 12) after practicing on Wednesday. Head coach John Fox did not characterize it as a setback, but more as maintenance of Long's old injury from last year. Long did leave Sunday's game for a play with an unannounced leg injury, but quickly returned and finished the game. If Long can't play Sunday, the Bears could use Hroniss Grasu at center and move Cody Whitehair from center to guard. Grasu practiced on a limited basis Thursday as he recovers from a Week 2 hand injury.

RB Taquan Mizzell, a former Ravens running back, could get the chance to face his old team as a kickoff returner Sunday after the Bears cut return man Deonte Thompson.

RB Tarik Cohen was not pulled as the return man at Monday night's game for his habit of freelancing and running sideline to sideline, as it appeared. Safety Eddie Jackson made the final punt return in place of Cohen. According to special teams coordinator Jeff Rodgers, Cohen's habit of trying to take punts outside were sometimes by design.

CB Marcus Cooper (back) practiced on a limited basis Thursday after he did not participate in Wednesday's practice. Cooper missed last week's game with an injury suffered late in the week during practice.

LB Pernell McPhee (knee) continues to show signs he has recovered in full from his latest surgery during training camp. He had 45 snaps in Monday's game and was surprised when he found out how many it had been.

WR Markus Wheaton (groin) practiced Thursday only on a limited basis after an injury suffered on Wednesday, when he went through a full practice.

WR Markus Wheaton (groin) may miss at least a month with a tear in his groin, according to reports. Wheaton is expected to be sidelined for four to six weeks, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Thursday, citing league sources. Although Wheaton was listed as limited in Thursday's practice and was not on the team's injury report Wednesday, the newspaper reported that he was awaiting final results of an MRI exam. The 26-year-old Wheaton has appeared in only three games with the Bears, making his lone reception for nine yards in Monday night's 20-17 loss to the Vikings.
