Lincoln College’s Creekside Hosting Fall Festival
Special Dedication of “Nature’s Embrace"

LINCOLN

Creekside’s Fall Festival will be held on Saturday, October 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the G. Dennis Campbell Creekside Outdoor Center for Environmental Education at Lincoln College. The family friendly event is free and open to the public. This year, the event will coincide with Lincoln College Family Weekend.

Starting at 10:30 a.m. a special dedication ceremony will take place for the sculpture “Nature’s Embrace” by local artist Moses Pinkerton, with Lincoln College President Dr. David Gerlach offering brief remarks.

Visitors will have a variety of opportunities to explore Creekside and participate in activities including a rail splitting demonstration at the pioneer cabin, where reenactors will also be making and selling stew. A “Little Free Library” has been installed at Creekside, and participants will have the opportunity to help paint the library box during the festival. Book donations are also being sought.

Other highlights at the family friendly event will include:

• Pumpkin decorating;
   

• Nature walks to Sugar Creek, including both short walks to the Creek and a longer tour to the site where “Judd” the Lincoln College Wooly Mammoth was discovered in 2005;
  
  
   

• Nature displays, including a bee and honey display table, a rock/mineral/fossil display, freshwater mussel display, solar power demonstration and free seed packets,
   

• Children’s story time at the outdoor classrooms;
   

• Educational displays and yard games;
   

• Local vendors including food, art and crafts.
