Fire destroys home north of Lincoln

Lincoln Rural Fire Department was called to a home fire at the SE corner of 1250th Ave. and Lake View Dr. on Tuesday afternoon. The owner of the home, John Ewins, was home when the fire broke out. He and his dog were the only one's there and both escaped injury. Ewins' wife Debbie was not home at the
time.

Several area fire departments also responded, along with medical support and rescue units. The blaze that was well underway when firefighters arrived shortly after 2:30 p.m. It took multiple tankards water and about 45 min. to subdue the flames.

The a mass of flames leaped well above the roof line near to the area of the kitchen/living room area of the home. On that half of the house the roof was burned through. The remainder of the home on the bedrooms end was heavily damaged by smoke and the roof warped. Firefighters remained on the scene well into the evening.

Inspectors were just beginning their examination as dark descended around 6:30 p.m.. A family member said the owner suspected electrical as the cause.

With the blaze subdued, firefighters rinse each other off. Smoke continued to billow out of the structure for an extended period.
