[September 01, 2017]  (The Sports Xchange) - NFL appeals officer Harold Henderson is under pressure to have a decision on Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott's appeal of his six-game suspension by Monday, ESPN reported on Thursday.

The appeals hearing lasted three days and concluded on Thursday afternoon. Henderson, who was appointed by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to hear the appeal, will decide whether to reduce or uphold the league's initial ruling.

The San Francisco 49ers acquired offensive lineman Laken Tomlinson from the Detroit Lions for an undisclosed draft pick.

Tomlinson must pass a physical in order for the trade to be finalized, per a 49ers' press release. NFL Network reports that the draft pick going back to the Lions is a 2019 fifth-round draft pick.

Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert signed a two-year contract extension that extends "through at least the 2020 draft," the team announced.

Colbert, 60, joined the Steelers in 2000 as director of football operations. The Pittsburgh native held that position for 11 years before becoming the team's general manager.

Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt intended to lend a hand on Sunday when he started an online fundraiser to aid the victims of Hurricane Harvey.

Watt's initial goal for the fundraiser was $200,000. On Thursday, the total surpassed $10 million, with daytime host Ellen DeGeneres presenting a $1 million check courtesy of Walmart to the initiative. DeGeneres had already pledged $50,000 of her own money for the relief efforts.
