[September 11, 2017]    The Mount Pulaski Volleyball Team defeated Greenview Thursday night at home with both the JV and Varsity teams winning in two sets by identical scores. The JV won 25-9 and 25-10 and the Varsity also won 25-9 and 25-10.

Abigail Fitzpatrick led the team with 6 kills, Skylar Hayes added 3 kills and Paige Stewart had 2 kills and 1 block. For the JV squad, Leah Beckers had 7 kills, Kaylee Wilham had 2 kills and Zoey Lowe had 2 kills.

Prior to the match a Spaghetti Dinner Benefit was held to raise funds for the family of Evan Connor. Connor was the 2017 graduate of MPHS who recently passed in a single-car accident. The dinner was very successful with the support of not only the Mount Pulaski community but the Greenview community as well.

A moment of silence was observed and a prayer was said in the gym for another student in the community who passed recently. Caleb Coogan, a 12-year-old student at MPGS, killed September 6th in an ATV accident.

Following the game Coach Donna Dulle's thoughts and words were with the families and the Mount Pulaski community. “My thoughts are with your family and the whole community, as I shed another tear,” she said. "The Mount Pulaski community is a very special place to live with some really great people. I reflect many times on how this community works. The State Fair tram keeps working with over 700 volunteers each year. Volley for the Cures are supported every year to help someone in need. Tonight we raised a lot of money for Evan Connor’s Family from the great support from the town of Mount Pulaski.”

Coach Dulle continued amazed at the love felt in the community as a result of Caleb Coogan’s passing, “How the community is spreading their wings to help Caleb’s family. Wow. All I can say it is just amazing that this town is one big family.”

The coach, who has touched so many lives in her lengthy career and has obviously been touched deeply in return, concluded with offering yet another helping hand and said, “Please let me know if I or the volleyball teams can do anything to help.”
