[September 14, 2017]    The Lincoln College Men’s Soccer team traveled to Springfield on Wednesday for an MWAC conference match-up against the Lincoln Land Loggers. It would take over 70 minutes for the Lynx to get on the board, but once they did they would score 3 goals in a 5 minute span to win 3-0.

Sophomore Guilherme Teodoro (Sao Paulo, Brazil) got the scoring started with a 20 yard chip shot to put Lincoln ahead. Tajay Small, a sophomore from Kingston, Jamaica, would follow up with a goal just 45 seconds later. Fellow sophomore Adrian Roman slotted Small a ball behind the Logger's back line and Small hammered home a low shot that beat the keeper.

The Lynx would get their third goal minutes later when a pass from Junior Bryan Orellena (Chicago) set up freshman Ignacio Ximenez (Laurenceville, GA) for a 1 on 1 breakaway that Ignacio would calmly finish by putting the ball in the back of the net.

LC Coach Ben Massena was pleased with the win. “I’m proud of how the guys stayed with our game plan and stayed calm to finish the game off," said Massena. "Lincoln Land gave us a great game and had several chances to take the lead but we were able to keep them off the score board."

Lincoln (3-2) will next play at home on Saturday as they host Heartland Community College. Kickoff is set for 2:00 PM.
