[September 15, 2017]    The Lincoln Railers Varsity Volleyball Team defeated Mount Zion Thursday night in two sets, 25-23 and 25-8. Coach Kyle Caldwell was again pleased with his team’s performance on the court.

"Tonight was by far the best volleyball we have played all year. We gave up some very large runs at the end of the first set to make it far closer than it should have been given our 18-7 lead at one point, but we will use that to learn from and improve. In the second set we did a much better job of splitting the set into 5 point games and we won each of those. That is a philosophy we will be sticking with to avoid slow starts or slow finishes.

"Overall I felt that we looked relaxed and in control for 85% of the night. Mount Zion is a very tough and well rounded team and we know that they will continue to improve throughout the rest of the year. We are thrilled to walk out with such a huge win from a confidence and a conference standings perspective. We are hoping to carry this momentum into our weekend as we play in Mount Pulaski's Fall Festival Tournament.”

The Railers will play at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. tonight in the North Gym (old gym) at Mount Pulaski High School.

The Lincoln JV team lost to Mount Zion 21-25 and 18-25.

The Lincoln Freshmen lost to Mount Zion 19-25 and 23-25.
