[September 15, 2017]   (The Sports Xchange) - The Boston Bruins signed restricted free agent forward David Pastrnak to a six-year, $40 million contract on Thursday.

Pastrnak's annual cap hit of $6.67 million is the fourth-highest among the Bruins behind fellow forward David Krejci ($7.25 million), goaltender Tuukka Rask ($7 million) and forward Patrice Bergeron ($6.875 million).

The 21-year-old Pastrnak erupted for 34 goals and 36 assists in 75 games last season. His 70 points trailed only forward Brad Marchand for the team lead. The Czech has collected 59 goals and 64 assists in 172 career regular-season games.

The Winnipeg Jets signed forward Bryan Little to a six-year, $31.75 million contract extension.

Little, who was entering the final campaign of his five-year, $23.5 million contract, collected 21 goals and 26 assists in 59 games last season.

The 29-year-old Alberta native has logged 672 career games with the franchise since being selected with the 12th overall pick of the 2006 draft by the Atlanta Thrashers.

The Minnesota Wild agreed to terms with restricted free-agent forward Marcus Foligno on a four-year, $11.5 million contract.

The contract carries a cap hit of $2.875 million per season. Foligno will be paid $2 million in 2017-18, $3 million in 2018-19, $3.5 million in 2019-20 and $3 million in 2020-21.

Foligno scored 13 goals and 10 assists with 73 penalty minutes in 80 games with Buffalo last season. He also ranked fifth in the NHL with a career-high 279 hits last season, and also set career highs in goals and blocked shots (57).

Ottawa Senators veteran forward Clarke MacArthur failed his medical test and will not be with the team for training camp, general manager Pierre Dorion said.

MacArthur, who returned to the lineup in April after an 18-month absence while dealing with post-concussion symptoms, was examined on the opening day of Ottawa's camp.

Dorion declined to divulge many details on the condition of MacArthur, who played in the final four games of the regular season and 19 postseason contests as the Senators advanced to the Eastern Conference finals.

The Toronto Maple Leafs signed unrestricted free agent defenseman Roman Polak to a professional tryout contract.

Polak is working his way back from a gruesome leg injury sustained during Toronto's first-round playoff series against the Washington Capitals.

The 31-year-old Czech collected four goals and seven assists in 75 regular-season games in 2016-17.
