[September 15, 2017]    The West Lincoln Broadwell Lady Wolverines opened their 2017 season on Thursday September 14th hosting Decatur Lady our Lourdes. The 7th grade team came out ready to play as they opened up with a 21-4 halftime lead. The girls continued to play tough defense, and was able to come out after half and capitalize on some early turnovers by Lourdes to increase their lead.

Kloe Froebe led the offensive attack with 17 points, Elly Martinez followed up with 7 points. Also scoring was Jenna Bowman (4), Piper Whiteman, Jane Turner and Becca Heitzig added two points apiece. On the defensive side, Froebe led the attack with 9 steals as Heitzig quickly grabbed 5. The saying it’s not the size of the girl it’s the size of the heart inside of the girl that matters proved true in this game as well, as Becca Heitzig was the leading rebounder with 3.

In between the 7th grade 8th grade game WLB honored last year’s 7 1-A State Championship team that ended the season with a remarkable record of 26 wins and 0 Losses. It was truly an amazing night!

The 8th grade team came out a bit emotional as they posted a 14-10 first quarter lead. As the second quarter started the team seemed to settle down and was able to find their way as they climbed to a 31-14 halftime lead. The Lady Wolverines continued their defending pursuit as they came out after halftime and pulled away to a 51-18 victory. Kloe Froebe led the offensive pursuit with 25 points as Asia Sales added 11, Tori Schilling 7. The defensive assault was led by Sales with 8 steals as Froebe picked up 6. Tori Schilling came alive on the boards as she pulled down 12 monster boards.

The Lady Wolverines will be back in action on Monday night at West Lincoln Broadwell gymnasium. The program would like to extend a huge thank you to all who helped make the banner ceremony possible and a special thank you to all who attended. #WEWILL
