[September 22, 2017]    The Lincoln College Women’s Volleyball team managed to take a set from the Nationally ranked Illinois Central College Cougars, but ICC was too strong the rest of the match and defeated the Lady Lynx 25-14, 18-25, 25-12, 25-21.

Freshman libero Megan Gilliam (Waterloo) turned in an outstanding effort in the loss. Gilliam had 34 digs on the night which was by far the most on the team. Sophomore middle hitter Elysa Smith also had a good match recoding a team high seven kills and she served two points. Sophomore Jenna Weller (Salt Fork) led in set assists with 14.

Coach Mark Tippett was optimistic about his team’s chances to rebound from the loss. He said, “We need to fix our serve receive issues if we are going to compete with the top teams in our Region. I am confident we have the skills to do that, we just need to be more consistent about passing the ball to target.”

Lincoln will host an 11 a.m. match on Saturday against the St. Ambrose JV.
