MOUNT PULASKI
Peyton
Taylor, son of Greg and Marla Taylor of Chestnut, has been named
September - Senior-of-the-month at Mount Pulaski High School. He was
selected for this honor based on the criteria of scholarship,
leadership, service, and character.
Peyton has been very involved with different clubs and sports during
his time at MPHS. He has been a member of the Basketball team and
participated in Track and Field. He is also a member of NHS, WYSE,
Science Olympiad, and Spanish Club. Peyton is also a member of the
youth group at his church.
Peyton has received multiple awards and recognitions throughout the
years. He was Spanish student of the year his freshman and junior
year, and Anatomy and Physiology student of the year and US History
student of the year his junior year. Peyton made it to the state
finals in Track and Field the last 3 years, he placed 5th overall
his sophomore year. His sophomore year he was awarded most rebounds,
highest field goal percentage, and most points in basketball. His
junior year he was honored with most rebounds, most points, and made
the all conference team for basketball. Peyton has earned straight
A’s every semester during his time at MPHS.

Peyton plans to continue throwing in Track and Field at a
Division I or II school. He plans to pursue a degree in Engineering or
Kinesiology. He currently is looking at either the United States Naval Academy
or SIU in Carbondale for next year, but has not made a definite decision yet.
The Senior-of-the-Month program is sponsored by Johnson True Value Hardware and
Larry Conaway Jr. Monthly award winners receive a $100 award paid to the college
they plan to attend. They are also in the running for the $500
Senior-of-the-Year award sponsored by Illinois National Bank.
