[April 06, 2018]    The United States scored three goals in four minutes of the second half, two by Alex Morgan, and pulled away from Mexico for a 4-1 win on Thursday in a friendly at EverBank Field in Jacksonville, Fla.

Mexico trailed 1-0 before Morgan converted a penalty on the 50th minute. She then outraced a defender and dribbled and scored for a 3-0 lead.

She has 10 goals in her past 12 U.S. matches.

Carli Lloyd made it 4-0 in the 54th minute, but Katie Johnson ended the shutout 10 minutes later with a chip shot from 19 yards.

The friendly is the first of two in four days between the neighboring countries. The second is Sunday at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston.

Mallory Pugh gave a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute with her fourth goal of 2018. Morgan threaded a pass to Megan Rapinoe, who passed across to Pugh.

Mexico's best chance of the first half came with its first corner in the 35th minute. Johnson had a near-post header go wide.

The U.S. is 4-0-1 this year with wins over Denmark, Germany, England and a tie vs. France. The latter three were part of the SheBelieves Cup, which the Americans won last month.

Mexico has an extensive connection to the United States with 13 of its players having dual citizenship and three currently playing collegiate soccer north of the border.

The U.S. leads the series 33-1-1 with Mexico's lone win coming during CONCACAF World Cup qualifying in 2011. The last meeting was more than two years ago when the U.S. won a qualifier 1-0 on Feb. 13, 2016, in Frisco, Texas.
