Lincoln Railsplitters drop doubleheader conference games to Charleston in season opener

The Lincoln Railsplitters baseball team finally opened the 2018 Spring Season by hosting a doubleheader with Apollo Conference opponent Charleston on Thursday afternoon. The games were originally scheduled for Saturday but moved up with the threat of cold wet weather looming again.

Lincoln Railers lost the lead late in a 3-1 defeat to Charleston on Thursday.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Charleston pitchers struck out 13, while Lincoln sat down nine.

In the bottom of the second inning, Lincoln tied things up at one when Dylan Chaudoin was hit by a pitch, Scoring a run.

Nate Arnold took the loss for Lincoln Railers He lasted seven innings, allowing six hits and three runs while striking out nine.

Drew Singleton and Alex Bogdanic each managed one hit to lead Lincoln Railers.

Lincoln Railers fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 3-1 loss to Charleston on Thursday.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Charleston pitchers struck out seven, while Lincoln Railers sat down seven.

Colton Holliday took the loss for Lincoln Railers. He went three and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on three hits and striking out five.

Dreyden Pozsgai went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Lincoln in hits.

The Lincoln Railsplitters had nine games cancelled due to the cold, wet, snowy weather this Spring.

Lincoln is scheduled to play today at 4:30 p.m. against Bartonville Limestone. That game is away.
