 Dr. Cornille is currently Executive Vice
President/Chief Student Services Officer at Madison Area Technical
College, Madison, Wis., where he has served in senior leadership
positions since 2006.
"The Board is confident that Keith Cornille is the right person to
lead us into the future and, with him as our president, the people
and programs at Heartland will continue to have enormous positive
impact on the residents of our district,” said Board Chairman Gregg
Chadwick. “His extensive background in community college leadership
and his personal style will be a great complement to the existing
strengths at Heartland."
As Executive Vice President at Madison College, Cornille set the
direction and oversight of student services for the institution’s
four regional campuses and two metro campus locations. He comes to
Heartland with 32 years of experience in higher education, including
an 18 year tenure at Madison College.
“Heartland is an outstanding institution in a thriving community,”
said Cornille. “The recently adopted Strategic Plan developed with
input from throughout the college and community is an excellent
framework to guide our future growth. The current conversations with
the business sector will help us further understand the college’s
program mix to meet the current and future workforce needs of the
communities we serve.”

An Illinois native who grew up in Glen Ellyn, Dr. Cornille has
family ties to Central Illinois.
“I had come to know the area during the time when my sister
worked at and my brother attended, Illinois Wesleyan University, and always
appreciated the community’s warmth and commitment to education,” said Cornille.
“Twenty years ago my parents moved to Central Illinois, Mt. Zion, not far from
my sister in Decatur and over the past couple of decades we have come to
experience all that Central Illinois has to offer. My wife, Falicia, and I are
excited to become a part of the greater Bloomington/Normal community and making
it our home.”
The Board of Trustees will vote on a contract for Cornille during their April 17
meeting to be held on the Normal campus.
Cornille will succeed Rob Widmer, who will retire from the position of president
on June 30, 2018. Widmer announced his retirement last year after serving more
than 20 years at the college and serving as president since June of 2013.
Pending the contract approval, Cornille is expected to take office in July of
2018.
