[April 12, 2018]    Crew chief Alan Gustafson was suspended for two races by NASCAR after Hendrick Motorsports driver Chase Elliott's rear window was found to be not up to standards at Texas on Sunday.

Gustafson was also fined $50,000 for the infraction, which is due to the window not being kept rigid in all directions.

Elliott was docked 20 drivers points and Hendrick 20 owners points as well.

Kenny Francis will fill in for Gustafson during his suspension, which the team has already said it will not appeal.

Elliott drove his No. 9 Chevrolet to an 11th-place finish in Texas. He currently sits 18th (15th before the penalty) in the points standings after seven races.

Elliott was also docked 25 points for a rear-suspension issue at Phoenix in March and car chief Josh Kirk was suspended two races for that infraction.
